For Sale, 1973 Yamaha 250 DT3.
This bike would make a great restoration project.
I started the restoration work but ran short on interest.
The frame and engine numbers match.
It will need the normal items that require replacement due to age (such as tires, fork seals and shocks).
It runs good (starting on the first or second kick) and shifts smoothly through all five gears. The frame and swing arm have been repainted, as have all the attached components.
The gas tank, oil tank, and head light bucket are all the original Yamaha green paint with black stripes. There are a few dents in the gas tank, but nothing major.
The inside of the gas tank is very clean.
I’ve installed a new wrist pin and a new wrist pin bearing.

It has a standard size piston and standard rings.
The carburetor has been cleaned and tuned.
A new coil has also been installed.
The clutch plates have been resurfaced and cleaned.
The front and rear brakes have been cleaned and reconditioned as needed.
The steering head bearings have been cleaned and repacked with grease and adjusted to remove any play.
The steering head damper is still in working order.
The swing arm bushings were also cleaned and repacked with grease when I painted the swing arm.
The speedometer works and I believe the tachometer should work if a new cable is installed (the cable is broken but the drive gear is in working order inside the clutch case).
Currently, the bike runs on premixed gas only but if the two piece Yamaha throttle cable were to be installed, I believe the Autolube system should work.
The oil pump and oil tank are still on the bike.
I did not install a battery but all the wiring harness is installed on the bike except the tail light harness (tail light is missing).
The bike currently runs directly off the magneto through a toggle switch mounted on the headlight bucket (flip forward to run and backward to stop).
The key switch and key are included and can be hooked up when a battery is installed as can the harness to run the lights.
This is a very fun bike to ride and as I mentioned earlier, it should make someone a great restoration project or it can be ridden as a trail bike as it is now.
The bike is NOT titled, but could easily be, if restored.
It will be sold “as is” with a bill of sale.
Shipping, transportation, and all arrangements responsibility of the buyer.
