Description
Danish Solid Silver Slotted Pierced Modified Fiddle Thread Slotted Ladle with Gold Wash Hallmarked Christian Fredrik Larsen c1840Presented is a great sugar caster, tea strainer ladle hallmarked for solid Danish silver made by Christian Fredrik Larsen c1840. Silver made in Denmark durring this period; expressed in thousandths, being the minimum is 826/840 fine silver; American standard silver is 925, so there is slightly less silver in this alloy. I have placed pictures of my research in the photos above. This great ladle has a chased design on one side of the modified fiddle thread handle and an intricate bright-cut design on the other with a crimped flared edge around the round bowl that has a delicate gold wash interior and slotted with a geometric floral design. This beautiful ladle only a minor loss of gold wash with its bowl as well as a missing dot from one of the leaves in the slotted design and has no dents or dings and only some fine scratches from gentle use and care with no monogram. This is a well-crafted and useful item, rich in elegance and detail. It makes a great addition to almost any silver collection.
